Govt committed to fill up vacancies in Minorities, SCs STs & OBCs Commissions: Venkaiah:
  • Government is committed to fill up the vacancies in Commissions for Minorities, SCs STs and OBCs at the earliest. It said the process is on in this direction. Accusing the opposition of making an issue out of non-issue, Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu said these commissions are fully functional and opposition party is just trying to create a controversy to show the government in poor light. 
  • Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr. Naidu said these parties have not learnt lesson from the recent mandate of people in assembly elections. He said last week Union Cabinet had given its approval to grant Constitutional status to the OBC Commission for the welfare of the community. 
  • The Minister reiterated government’s commitment for the betterment of the SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities.
  • Earlier, the Rajya Sabha faced repeated adjournment following Opposition uproar over the vacant posts in these commissions.
