About 3.5 lakh cases settled in National Lok Adalats across country
About 3(point)5 lakh cases were settled in the National Lok Adalats held at all levels ranging from district to high courts across the country in a day, yesterday. National Legal Services Authority, NALSA, said that as per the figures received till 5 in the evening, more than 3.5 lakh cases, including 1.9 lakh pending and 1.6 lakh pre-litigation cases, have been settled. The total value of the settlement amount reached today is Rs 1,185 crores.

National Productivity Week celebrations to begin from today
The National productivity week celebrations will begin from today. Every year 12th to 18th of February is celebrated as the National Productivity Week. This year the theme of week is 'From Waste to Profits-through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.'

2nd edition of International Spice Conference to begin at Thiruvanantapuram Today (12.02.2017)
The second edition of the International Spice Conference is set to begin at Thiruvanantapuram today. Over 700 delegates representing various states, industry leaders from 40 countries and International Spice Associations representatives will participate in the three day conference. 

11th Aero India 2017 to be held at Yelahanka in Bengaluru from Feb 14
The 11th biennial edition of International Aerospace and Defence Exhibition - Aero India 2017 - will be held at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru from Tuesday. 72 aircraft, beside 270 Indian and 279 foreign companies will participate in the 5-day event. Exhibitors from US, Russia, Israel, Germany, Singapore, UAE, South Korea and Australia will participate.

ISRO to launch record 104 satellites in single mission on Feb 15, 2017
Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO's workhorse PSLV - the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle - will carry a record 104 satellites in a single mission on Wednesday from Sriharikota. ISRO said, PSLV in its 39th flight (PSLV-C37), will launch the 714 kg Cartosat-2 series satellite for earth observation along with 103 co-passenger satellites, together weighing about 664 kg at lift off. The co-passenger satellites will be of India, US, Israel, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and UAE. Last year, ISRO had launched 20 satellites. The highest number of satellites launched in a single mission is 37 by Russia in 2014.

North Korea fires ballistic missile in 1st such test since Donald Trump took office as US president
North Korea has fired a ballistic missile in the first such test since Donald Trump took office as US president. South Korean officials said, the missile flew east towards the Sea of Japan for about 500km. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the test was absolutely intolerable. 

German parliament to elect country's new President Today (12.02.2017)
A German parliamentary assembly will elect country's new president today. The German president has little executive power, but is considered an important moral authority. The new head of state will succeed Joachim Gauck, who announced last year that he wouldn't seek a second five-year term because of his age.

Queen Elizabeth II to host spectacular UK-India Year of Culture launch at Buckingham Palace
Queen Elizabeth II will host a spectacular UK-India Year of Culture launch at Buckingham Palace at the end of this month to strengthen the special cultural partnership between the two countries. Britain's senior-most Indian-origin minister, Priti Patel, described it as a real demonstration of the strong ties between the two countries. 

Nepal attaches special priority to relations with India & China: Prakash Sharan Mahat
Nepalese Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the Himalayan Nation attaches special priority to its relations with India and China. He warned political leaders who have been using the relations with neighbouring countries as a tool for achieving power and addressing their interests. 

Odisha: Jharsuguda airport to be fully operational by June next year
Jharsuguda airport in Odisha will be fully operational by June next year. Airport Authority of India Chairman Guru Prasad Mohapatra, who inspected the progress of the expansion work at the airport, said the airport being modernized at an outlay of 200 crore rupees will have two airstrips for the landing of A-320 Boeing and the terminal being constructed will have facilities to handle 300 passengers. 

RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 6.25 per cent
The Reserve Bank of India today maintained status quo on its key rates in its monetary policy review, today and the repo rate, or the rate at which the RBI lends to banks, stands unchanged at 6(point)25 per cent, and the reverse repo rate, or the rate at which the RBI absorbs excess liquidity, also remains steady at 5(point)75 per cent.

India's Forex increase by USD 1.588 billion to USD 363.146 billion
India's foreign exchange reserves increased by 1(point)588 billion US Dollar to 363(point)146 billion US Dollar in the week ended 3rd February 2017. A RBI press release has informed that foreign currency assets, a major part of the overall reserves increased by 914.7 million to 340.126 billion US Dollar. 

Centre to launch portal to provide platform to emerging sports persons
Union Minister of State for Sports Vijay Goyal has said, Centre will launch a portal soon which will provide the platform to the emerging sports persons in the country. Participating in a closing ceremony of 'Jaipur Mahakhel Kabaddi' today, Mr Goyal said, the sports persons who are doing well in any sport activity will be able to upload their videos and bio data on the proposed portal where Sports Ministry will scrutinize and select them on the merit basis.
